Roam Music -- Unique Music Events SF, LA, Spain, Miami

Known for introducing breakthrough music. Good music combined with a high quality sound system and a unique location = Roam Music

Roam into 2011

With the recent relocation from SF back to LA, Roam Music is looking to pay tribute to the roots in which it all began. With more than a decade of producing events, Roam's mission statement remains the same, creating events that feature great music, sound of the highest quality, and aberrant locations.

Over 10 years ago Roam Music events began on Sunday afternoons at the late Fro-Bar (now More Bar) in Santa Monica. Little did we know just how far Roam Music events would travel, creating a fun-filled journey for the Roamers we recruited over the years. Amongst the musical escapades Roam has been noted for showcasing new talent here on the West Coast and are excited to continue this tradition in the adventures that lie ahead.

Cheers to warm weather, outdoor Sunday day parties, friends, family, and great music....

It feels great to be home!

Roam Music Presents: Guillaume and The Coutu Dumonts (Live) feature debut in Los Angeles (4/24/2011)

On Sunday April 24th, Roam Music returns to Los Angeles going back to its roots, producing a decadent Sunday afternoon event. With an emphasis on quality events and featuring breakthrough artists to the West Coast, we are delighted to have Montreal based (now residing in Berlin) artist Guillaume and The Coutu Dumonts. Come join us for his very first LA appearance.

As big fans and supporters of Guillaume’s eclectic music- a special blend of funk, house, techno, gospel, swing, and afro-beat, we know that we are in for a treat. In addition, we are very excited to welcome back the legendary Jason Bentley, the culprits themselves-Droog, and Roam resident John Wander. Lastly, the icing on the cake, the outdoor patio will be equipped with the infamous Funktion-One sound system.  A mind-blowing Sunday afternoon that is not to be missed.

Ever an energetic actor in the electronic music scene, Montreal based artist Guillaume Coutu Dumont maintains numerous collaborative projects, performing regularly in his hometown and around the world. Driven by his passion for hybrid forms of musical expression, Guillaume continues on his quest for the
ultimate ham bone funk recipe with his solo project: Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts a special blend of funk, house, techno, gospel, swing and afro-beat.

His first album FACE À L'EST was released in 2007 on Musique Risqué and the second BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL in May 2010 on the French imprint Circus Company. So far, his solo outputs are available on MUTEK_rec, Musique Risquée, Hartchef Discos, Floppy Funk, OSLO, Raum Musik and on French labels Circus company and Karat.

Guillaume’s initial musical forays were as a percussionist in a funk band, after which he studied latin and
classical percussions in college before discovering electro-acoustic composition, which he pursued further at
university. It was during this period that he joined [iks], a contemporary jazz formation with whom he recorded two albums and toured for several months in Senegal. Upon his return to Montreal, Guillaume decided to focus his efforts on composition.

Influenced as much by concrete music as by techno, which he discovered one night in the midst of a lightning storm, Guillaume founded Egg (MUTEK_rec, Karat, Floppy Funk), Luci (MUTEK_rec, Morris Audio), Chic Miniature (Raummusik, Musique Risquée), Flabbergast (MUTEK_rec), as well as the artistic collective Racam. He has toured with one or another of these projects in north/south America, Europe and Asia.

Since January 2007, Guillaume has reached European soil. Like many other, he chose Berlin as his new home base. Traveling all around the block, he’s always looking to get the dance floors grinning with guilty pleasure. C’MON NOW SHAKE THAT ASS!

ROAM Music

For over a decade now, Roam Music has been at the forefront of producing events featuring music and artists of the future. Known for introducing new breakthrough artists such as Damian Lazarus, Paolo Mojo, Asad Rizvi, Mazi, and regularly hosting M.A.N.D.Y., Marco Carola, Mathew Jonson, Pier Bucci, Seth Troxler and other talented musicians to the west coast. We stay true to our name by moving our event from one unique location to the next. Our events have taken place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Coachella, Miami, and Spain.

We believe that good music combined with a high quality sound system and a unique location are the basic elements for creating the right vibe and a true Roam Music Experience. In our efforts to contribute, our events have also raised funds for charities such as Coach Art and Heal the Bay.

Kind words from one of our fellow Roamers about our upcoming event.....
"I am speechless. There is Roam & then there is everybody else."

Thank you for being open to new sounds.

New Roam Music Events 1/15 in SF & 1/23 in LA.

In the late 80’s, L.A. nightlife sucked, hair metal ruled the sunset strip and dance clubs were the snooty realm of velvet ropes. Then a multiracial bunch of hippies, hip hoppers, and social rejects started throwing all-night acid house parties in abandoned warehouses and a revolution was born. The L.A. Acid House Movement began. (Spin Magazine).
